The science is the story.

I just find the version that works in the room.

Writing and directing communications for life sciences companies - from early stage start-ups to global listed organizations. Always from the same starting point: The science.

— WHY IT MATTERS

Good science doesn't sell itself.

Good communication of science does.

The companies that grow fastest in life science are often not those with the best platforms. They are the ones whose buyers and investors understood — quickly and clearly — what the platform does, why it matters, and why now. That understanding comes from communication. From the pitch narrative, the white paper, the product page, the investor update.

That's the work. It requires someone who finds the science as interesting as the scientists do — and knows how to make that interest contagious.

— WHAT I DO

01

Scientific & corporate writing

I write content that a scientific audience will read without wincing and a commercial audience will act on. Produced with the precision of a researcher and the clarity of someone who has spent a decade translating between the two worlds. This includes writing structured for AI-era search: semantically clear, entity-rich, and formatted so that both humans and large language models can find and use what matters.

Examples: white papers, thought leadership articles, opinion pieces, investor narratives, web and digital copy, LLM-optimised product pages

02

Storytelling and content strategy

I find the true narrative inside a platform or company — and develop the language that carries it across every context where it needs to land. The difference between a platform that gets noticed and one that doesn't is rarely the science. It's usually the story, and whether it reaches the right people in the right form. I build the content strategy and channel framework that gets it there — across LinkedIn, web, webinars, and email — and advise on how content should be structured for an AI-driven search environment, where the rules of what gets found are changing faster than most communications strategies.

Examples: company narrative, investor pitch copy, website copy, LinkedIn and social content, channel strategy, content calendar, LLM discoverability audit

03

Corporate publishing & content syndication

I direct and manage major publication projects end to end — and develop the strategy for how that content travels further. Annual reports, ESG statements, corporate magazines, commemorative publications. I've coordinated across C-suite, IR, Legal, and Sustainability teams for a NASDAQ/DAX-listed company, delivering against fixed regulatory and investor deadlines. I also build the frameworks that get published content adapted, distributed, and extended across channels, without losing the quality or integrity of the original.

Examples: annual reports, ESG statements, corporate magazines, commemorative publications, content syndication frameworks, distribution strategy

— ABOUT

Close-up of a woman with long fair hair wearing a black top, sitting at a table against a plain light background. She has a subtle smile, light makeup, and wears multiple rings and a watch.

Scientist first. Communicator by design.

I started my career as a scientist. Oxford DPhil, postdoctoral positions across the UK and Italy — years spent designing experiments, writing for peer review, learning exactly how rigorous thinking works and exactly how easy it is to break.

At some point, I crossed over. Not away from science, but toward the question of how you bring other people into it. Because the science being done in life science companies right now is genuinely fascinating — and far too much of it stays locked behind language that was never designed to be understood. Dense, cautious, technical by habit rather than necessity. A barrier between the people doing the work and the people who need to act on it.

That barrier is what I take down. Not by simplifying — simplifying loses something. But by finding the language that lets the real story through. The part that makes a scientist's eyes light up when they talk about it in a corridor. That's usually the part worth writing about. And when the right people understand it — investors, partners, buyers — that understanding moves things forward.

I now work with life science organisations that want their science to be as compelling on the page as it is in the lab.

— EXPERTISE

What does this look like in practice?

From a cell-free expression startup with no market presence to a NASDAQ-listed diagnostics company with a €300k publishing budget — different problems, different scales, the same underlying question: what needs to be said, and how do you say it so the right people understand?

LenioBio GmbH

2022-2026

Marketing function and content programme — early-stage CDMO, built from scratch

Built the marketing function and content programme for a cell-free protein expression CDMO from absolute zero — no team, no process, no digital presence, no pipeline. Over four years: established a KOL-led content programme, built and directed webinar series, grew the LinkedIn following fivefold, drove a significant increase in qualified online enquiries, delivered a major e-commerce platform upgrade, and managed a team of direct reports, freelancers, and three specialist agencies. The function contributed, alongside sales, to an 8× revenue increase over four years.

QIAGEN N.V.

2015-2022

Corporate publishing & editorial direction — global listed company

Seven years writing and directing communications for a global life science company — from regulated IVD and oncology diagnostics content (CE-IVD and FDA, developed with Regulatory and Medical Affairs) to conceiving and leading QIAGEN Insights magazine end-to-end, and serving as collaborative lead on the annual report and ESG disclosures across three reporting cycles.

Peer-reviewed publications — the writing foundation

Author and co-author on peer-reviewed publications in international scientific journals, produced across postdoctoral positions at the University of Warwick, The Sainsbury Laboratory, and CIBIO, University of Trento. The scientific writing habit that makes the commercial work different: knowing not just how to write clearly, but how to write precisely — about evidence, under scrutiny, for readers who will push back.
